In December, 2022 V Forum of Russian-Chinese University Alliance of the Volga Federal District and the Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River was held online. This year it was devoted to the subject: "Cooperation and innovations of Russian and Chinese universities in a new era." The Forum was attended by numerous representatives of 17 Russian universities and 17 Chinese universities and scientific institutions.

At the opening of the event the participants were greeted by Mr. Oleg Mashkovtsev - Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District, Mr. Zhang Weili - Counselor of the Department of Europe and Central Asia of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Mrs. Olga Petrova - Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Mrs. Xi Zhu - Second Rank Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the co-chairmen of ''Volga-Yangtze'' University Alliance Prof. Sergey Dmitriev (Rector of NNSTU) and Prof. Li Yanrong (Rector of Sichuan University).

The main purpose of the Forum was exchange of the best practices and knowledge in educational, scientific, technical and humanitarian fields of activity that will contribute to growth of potential of interregional cooperation "Volga-Yangtze" and strengthening strategic partnership between Russia and China.

The speakers were unanimous in their opinion that University Alliance ''Volga-Yangtze'' which includes 50 Russian and 36 Chinese universities has become one of the most powerful tools for development of Russian-Chinese academic partnership. Its results speak for themselves: interaction between Russian and Chinese universities, each of which contributes to development of relations between the two countries, is expanding every year.

This was confirmed by the award ceremony "Outstanding Research Partnership" held at the Forum, which this year was awarded to the joint project of the scientists from Orenburg State University and Anhui University.

The Forum also launched the new project for mutual translation of the best Russian and Chinese literary works in the Volga-Yangtze regions.

Thus, the main theme of the Forum "Cooperation and innovations of Russian and Chinese universities in a new era" received one more concrete embodiment in the plans for development of Russian-Chinese cooperation and further strengthening of mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
