The XI International Forum "Arctic: Today and the Future" - one of the central annual events on the Arctic agenda in Russia was held in St. Petersburg in December, 2021.
The program included 2 plenary sessions, 52 discussion platforms dedicated to the goals and main directions of the state and social policy in the Arctic. The issues were devoted to economy, infrastructure, science and technology, ecology, international cooperation, ensuring of comprehensive security of the Arctic region and development of creative industries.
Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University is a traditional participant of the Arctic Forums. This year NNSTU Rector Prof. Dmitriev made his report on the topic "Prospective solutions of NNSTU for advanced development of the Arctic territories and development of the Northern Sea Route."
In parallel to the business program, the exhibition was held where Arctic projects and modern technologies of the participants were presented. NNSTU n.a. R.E. Alekseev demonstrated its developments related to ensuring of energy security of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation: projects of nuclear power plants for Russian icebreaker fleet and low-power nuclear power plants; thickening polymethacrylate additives Maxoil B3-011 and B2 used in oils for the Arctic; samples of land and water transport for the Arctic developed by NNSTU scientists in the framework of strategic projects of the "Priority 2035" program.
The outcome of the Forum was a resolution that traditionally accumulates initiatives of the participants and will be sent to specialized authorities to improve legislation and state regulation in the field of sustainable development of the Arctic.
