NNSTU undergraduates studying in the field of Nuclear Physics and Technology completed their internship at Belarusian National Technical University. As part of the Nuclear Energy and Safety program they studied at the departments of Thermal Power Plants and Technical Physics, where they acquired valuable practical skills under the guidance of BNTU lecturers.
BNTU representatives conducted laboratory classes for the students, where they worked with a computer simulator of reactor and turbine departments of nuclear power plants with VVER reactor.
The Department of Technical Physics offered its unique tasks. Under the guidance of the head of the department the undergraduates were engaged in calibration of scintillation gamma spectrometers, identification of radionuclides, studying interaction of gamma quanta with substances, as well as dosimetry of external irradiation.
NNSTU delegation visited the Joint Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research "Sosny", Minsk TPP-3, as well as BNTU Scientific and Technological Park and the National Children's Technopark. The excursions provided an opportunity to get acquainted with advanced developments of Belarusian scientists in the field of nuclear energy and technology, approaches to teaching talented and gifted children, as well as to visit the existing energy object.
The internship became a very useful experience for NNSTU undergraduates. They not only deepened their knowledge in the field of nuclear technologies, but also mastered working with modern equipment, got acquainted with professional approaches of their Belarusian colleagues and expanded their scientific horizons.
