For foreign citizens

NNSTU n.a. R.E. Alekseev is one of the leading technical universities in Russia, with more than a century of history and a wide range of scientific, educational and innovative achievements. The University makes significant contribution to development of high-tech sectors of the economy, trains highly qualified specialists for leading domestic and foreign enterprises and conducts world-class fundamental and applied research.

The University provides training in the entire range of technical specialties. NNSTU is closely integrated with the real sector of the economy, being a strategic partner of such corporations as Rosatom, United Shipbuilding Corporation, United Aircraft Corporation and Rostec. The University has its modern research infrastructure, including world-class laboratories and conducts breakthrough developments in the field of nuclear engineering, nuclear energy, high-density energy systems, digital design, new materials and additive technologies.

The education of foreign citizens at NNSTU has a long history and has been conducted since 1990s. Training covers all levels of education - from preparatory courses to postgraduate studies. To coordinate this process, the University has established the specialized Center of Foreign Students' Education.

Levels and training programs

NNSTU offers the following educational trajectories to foreign citizens:

Pre-university training: Training at the preparatory department for foreign citizens (engineering, technical and technological profile and biomedical profile). The program lasts for 2 semesters and includes intensive Russian language courses, as well as introductory classes in mathematics, physics, computer science, biology and chemistry.
Higher education: Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
Postgraduate education: Postgraduate studies.

Geography and student life

Representatives: There are students from 35 countries near and far abroad who study at NNSTU.
Accommodation: Every international student is guaranteed a place in the dormitory.
Cultural life: City tours, foreign language days, sports events and the other events are organized for students

In order to promote socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students, NNSTU and the other educational organizations hold a number of cultural and sports and leisure events.

Among the most significant events is the annual festival "Day of Languages of NNSTU", where foreign students of Nizhny Novgorod universities present cultural heritage of their countries with national songs and dances.

Special attention should be paid to the Chkalovskaya Fishing event, which is traditionally popular among international students of NNSTU. The event is held in Chkalovsk on the shore of the Gorky reservoir and includes ice fishing competitions, tasting of field cuisine, as well as its excursion program aimed at familiarizing with historical, cultural and natural features of the region.

One more significant event is the annual athletics race, which is attended by Russian and international students from all NNSTU institutes, which helps to strengthen intercultural interaction and form a unified student community.

Admission procedure for foreign citizens

To enroll at Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev, foreign citizens must complete the following steps:

1. Registration

Step-by-step instructions:

Check the correctness of the entered data (full name, date of birth, citizenship).
Choose the previous education level.
Download the full set of educational documents and their notarized translation into Russian. The documents are submitted in PDF format, each document is a separate file.
Provide the necessary information: details of the study visa (if any), migration card (if any), information about the preparatory faculty or Russian language courses (if you have completed such training).
Choose a university, a field of study, a form of study and set priorities.
If necessary, upload documents confirming the status of a compatriot.
Accept the university's admission rules and submit the application.

2. Passing entrance tests

After completing the verification of your documents and information, an official invitation to the entrance test will be sent to the email address you provided.

Along with the invitation, you will receive a video instruction explaining in detail the rules for passing the entrance exam in a remote format.

Submitting an application on the portal «Education in the Russian Federation»

Admission to the university to study at the expense of the federal budget of the Russian Federation (within the quota) has a special procedure.

Fill out the questionnaire and select up to 6 Russian universities, one of which should be NNSTU n.a. R.E. Alekseev.
Upload all the necessary documents to the portal (usually a copy of your passport, an educational document or a medical certificate).

Passing the pre-selection

Candidates are selected by the foreign offices of Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian centers of Science and Culture) in your country.

At this step, you can be invited for an interview or testing.

Getting directions

Candidates who have successfully passed the selection process receive a Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation direction from the operator to study at Russian university.
The lists of recommended candidates are sent to NNSTU.
